In the evening of September 16, the Russian army of occupation launched groups of attack drones on the territory of Ukraine. An enemy anti-aircraft missile struck Konotop in the Sumy region.

On the night of September 17, Tuesday, 2024, a series of explosions rang out in Sumy. This is reported by Suspilne.

“Russia launched a massive strike with drones on Sumy. There are consequences, they are already working on their elimination,” the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported.

“Konotop (Sumshchyna) – explosions again, the lights partially went out,” the monitoring channels informed.

The mayor of Konotop, Artem Semenikhin, said that the city is switching to emergency power supply.

“Vodokanal is connecting generators, water will be provided according to the schedules that will be provided later, he said.

All Unbreakable Points in the city will open at 6.30am.

Semenikhin also called on Konotopians, who have weapons and want to shoot down enemy UAVs, not to do so over the city.

Sumy OVA has published information on social networks about what to do in the event of a blackout. They also added that the air defense forces are actively engaged in anti-aircraft warfare and countering enemy strikes.
