Kazakhstan’s thermal power plants have accumulated billions of tenge in fuel debt – Roman Bilousov

At a government meeting, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliev said that the repair of which thermal power plants will receive additional attention, a coal trader Roman Bilousov from Enertus AG reports.

“The Ministry has identified energy enterprises that will receive additional attention in preparation for the heating season. These are the Ridder CHPP, Ekibastuz CHPP, Temirtau CHPP-2, Zhezkazgan CHPP. Due to the postponement of some repairs from 2023 to 2024 at the power plants of MAEK LLP, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of all planned repairs of power equipment. At the Kentau Thermal Power Plant, repairs to boiler No. 5 have not begun, and there is a delay in the reconstruction of boilers No. 8, 11 (from 3 to 24 days). And the reconstruction of boilers No. 7 and 12 has just begun. At the Stepnogorsk CHPP, repairs were postponed to a later date,” said Almasadam Satkaliev.

Non-compliance with the deadlines for the start of repairs of main equipment, according to him, is observed at power plants in Zhambyl (Tarazenergocenter JSC CHPP-4), Karaganda (Qarmet CHPP-2 JSC, Topar State District Power Plant) and Pavlodar (Pavlodarenergo JSC) regions .

The head of the Ministry of Energy also pointed out the significant amount of accounts payable of energy producing organizations for fuel.

“The debt of energy producing organizations to KazTransGas-Aimak JSC amounts to 24.6 billion tenge. There is also a debt of energy producing organizations to Bogatyr-Komir LLP in the amount of more than 6 billion tenge. Energy enterprises need to speed up debt repayment,” the head of the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
