Ukraine has approved a new procedure for serving summons to those liable for military service

Posted on 19/05/2024

According to the document, if a summons is sent to the addressee by mail, and he does not live in the apartment, the citizen will still be considered notified of receipt of the document. If the person liable for military service refuses the paper, he will also be considered notified.

It is noteworthy that now people authorized to serve subpoenas will not only require the signature of the person liable for military service, but will also video record the transfer of the document or refusal to receive it.

Moreover, in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCC, an analogue of the military registration and enlistment office) will have the right to hand out summonses around the clock. In addition to military commissars, this will be done by warning groups, which will include representatives of local administrations, heads of enterprises and organizations. Persons liable for military service are allowed to “catch” not only at their place of residence, but also at work, school, in public places and even at the border.

Let us remind you that on May 18, a law on tightening mobilization comes into force in Ukraine, which introduces more severe punishment for evading service and reduces the conscription age to 25 years.

Against this background, large queues of cars formed on the Polish-Ukrainian border. According to local media, more than 700 cars and two dozen buses are currently stuck in traffic jams.
