Former Taldykorgan police chief Marat Kushtybaev was sentenced to 11 years for rape, KazTAG reports. “By the court verdict, K. was found guilty under paragraph 5) of part 2 of Article 120 (rape with the use of violence against the victim, by a person in the performance of official duties) of the Criminal Code and he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 11 years, with deprivation of the right to hold public office service for a period of 10 years. In accordance with Part 1 of Article 49 of the Criminal Code, K. was deprived of the special rank of “police colonel,” the Taldykorgan City Court told a KazTAG correspondent on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on November 12, 2023.

“K., being the head of the police department of the city of Taldykorgan, in the police department building, namely in his office, committed rape, that is, sexual intercourse with the use of violence against the victim, while performing his official duties,” the court clarified.

Let us remind you that it became known on November 13 that Kushtybaev is suspected of raping a girl in his office who was taken to the police. Later, the police chief was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The trial of the ex-policeman began behind closed doors on February 28.
